There are serious problems in the Roman Church. The symptoms include a decline in participation in the Mass, a shortage of priests, a loss of authority of the Church. Appropriate changes are necessary in the life of the Church. For these to be successful tradition alone is an insufficient guide. Based on the encyclical Ecclesia de Eucharistia, this work returns as closely as possible to the understanding of the words of Jesus, "this is my body", when they were first heard. Thus it can is shown that the defining characteristics of the Church are agape, unity and service. This must be the guiding principle of changes to be implemented. Changes are needed in liturgy, sacraments, catechesis, mystagogy, theology, the structure and governance of the Church, its teachings, and evangelisation. In these areas serious effort must be made during the changes to focus on the requirement of making agape, unity and service the active and obvious principle that governs the Church. The road to be...
The book traces the history of the Catholic Church from its founder, the Lord Jesus, who appointed Peter as the first Pope(the first Head of the Church),it goes on to trace the history of the Popes, the successors of Peter through the ages, up to the present Pope Francis I, in an unbroken line of succession. It traces the growth of the Church through the early period of its persecution by the Roman Empire until Emperor Constantine stopped the persecution and became converted to Christianity himself, an event which remains a landmark in the history of Christianity. The book narrates the invasion, conquest and occupation of many Christian territories by the Muslims, the Conflict between the Western Church and the Eastern Church which eventually ended in complete separation, the corruption of the clergy in the Middle Ages, their worldliness and abuse of office which led to the Protestant Reformation, and the Catholic Church's self-reformation which culminated in the Council of Trent,...
The History and Ministry of the Anglican/ Episcopal Church in Egypt is influenced by the mission of the Church in the years from 1918 to 1925. The first Challenge was meeting other Christians and assisting them in their mission. The Episcopal Church started with the view to support the Coptic Orthodox Church (the mother church of Egypt). The failure of the early mission and the complication added by the British colonisation called for the establishment of a model Church truly Evangelical/catholic Church. The second challenge was the challenge of Islam. How the church witness to its neighbours? Dialogue, Literature, Drama and training courses were the main tools in conversing with the majority of population to extend the hand of friendship and love. The third challenge was urgent need for social, educational and medical support to the peoples of Egypt. The challenges offer a model for unity, witness, and service for the church in society. These are the same challenges that are...

An Investigation in the theological discourse from medieval period to this day has proven that separating the church and state in peoples’ way of life is not only separating the heart and soul, but also removing the tissue from the bone hence leads to a futile exercise. It’s in this sense that the church should not only be the light of the state during the darkness, but also eyes to the state during the blindness. In fact, the church cannot be separated from the politics because religion and politics interpenetrate each other in the issues of personal and social life. For according to Alan Geyer: “Isolating religion and politics from each other is to threaten both mental health and obstruct social justice; to fuse religion and politics indiscriminately is to threaten both integrity of faith and the freedom of politics.” The question is therefore how far can the church involve herself in politics and how far can she search for peace, justice and reconciliation? We should not forget a...

This book provides an overview from a sociological perspective of the historical and current interaction between the Church and Society; with the inclusion of the specific contributions of the Catholic Churches in Pakistan, the Philippines and Immigrant Filipino Catholic in Germany. The book is not destined to be a comprehensive listing and critical critique of all possible areas of contributions, conflicts and interactions, but instead represents the macro aspects of distinct generations of studies.
Over the years, Christians have continued to reflect on the nature of the church. These reflections have produced various ideas as to how each succeeding generation of Christians and theologians think the church should be understood. In this book, the author reviews the various views that have been advanced on the church and observes a missing link in the popular understanding of the nature of the church. He observes that the various ecclesiologies that have been written have not emphasized adequately God's presence and participation in the church. He argues that an adequate understanding of the church entails locating God within the church as a member and the head who runs the church from within rather than from without. He used the metaphor of clan to try to simplify this important theological truth. The author therefore maintains that to understand the church today, it is important to go beyond the views which tend to present God as an outsider whose relationship to the...
During the past decade the Information Technology field has experienced remarkable changes after new technologies have emerged and wireless network solutions have contributed to the development of mobile equipments and solutions. The advancements in network technologies and computing have lead to significant changes in the whole IT sector, but especially this has had a prominent influence to the software product industry. Traditionally software and applications have been sold to customer organizations and individual end-users by using license-based pricing and up-front fees. However, during the past decade people in the IT business have been able to recognize a perpetually growing interest towards service-oriented business from the software producer side, as well as from the customer side. This service orientation and development of computing resources has lead to two new phenomena: Cloud Computing and Cloud-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). This book will provide a comprehensive...
The youth stage is a period of growth faced with a lot of reproductive health challenge including unwanted pregnancies, abortions, contraction of STIs and HIV and AIDS. Worldwide the youth population is over a billion (World Bank 2007), which makes them a significant proportion of the world population. In addition, these youths will eventually have to take over productive and reproductive roles; hence it is important for them to survive through this stage to adulthood. The motivation for this study came from the need to investigate common belief held by many people that youths in the church are abstaining from sex. Resultantly, it is assumed that they are safe from contracting STIs and HIV and AIDS as compared to their counterparts outside the church. The study was aimed at finding out programmes available to youths which address reproductive health and how helpful these programmes are to them. The study was carried out in the four regions of the Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa...
Societies in transition are vulnerable to strong forces for political change. When Franco''s fascist government defeated the socialist party that had taken control from 1931 to 1936, it aligned itself with Spain''s Catholic Church. For most of Spain''s history, the established Church culture had been inseparable from Spanish identity and Catholicism was taught in all schools, private and public. Therefore, under the guise of religion, the government used the educational system as a means of socialization, connecting nationalism and religion to promote their fascist agenda. The purpose of this historiographic study is to examine the relationships among the school, government, and Church in Spain during the Franco era (1936 – 1975) in the context of that nation''s social, economic, political, and cultural forces. An examination of school textbooks written and used in the Franco era will be analyzed as to their reflection of state and Church policies. Interviews of Spaniards that...
Hutson examines ideas and public policies relating to the relationship between government and religion from 1607 to 1837.
Pope Francis, the first Jesuit pope and the first from the Americas, offers a challenge to his church. Can he bring about significant change? Should he? Garry Wills, the Pulitzer Prize-winning historian, argues provocatively that, in fact, the history of the church throughout is a history of change. In this brilliant and incisive study, Wills describes the deep and serious changes that have taken place in the church or are in the process of occurring. These include the change from Latin, the growth and withering of the ecclesiastical monarchy, the abandonment of biblical literalism, the assertion and nonassertion of infallibility, and the erosion of church patriarchy. In such developments we see the living church adapting itself to the new historical circumstances. As Wills contends, it is only by examining the history of the church that we can understand Pope Francis's and the church's challenges.
In this book,Dr Ngele brings to bear his wealth of knowledge of Hermeneutics and Biblical exegesis. The book is meant to serve three purposes namely: it would infuse fresh insight into the Church and readers' understanding of the Evangelical Mandate of Jesus Christ to His Church in Matthew's Gospel from an angle of Dialectics;while not neglecting the conventional idea the church has held on the text yesteryear.Secondly, the Church and Christian politicians are educated in this book and given an orthodox etymological interpretation on the concept of politics, its original meaning as well as its very essence. This knowledge will enable the Church as social-catalyst forester Socio-Political Transformation and good governance as aspects that have highly been neglected by the Church while carrying out the mandate. This, the author found out through redaction criticism as modern, analytical and scientific method of Biblical scholarship, is the other side of Jesus'Evangelical mandate of National...

African Hospitality From a Missiological Perspective: Aiding Church and Societal Growth, explores the contribution of African Hospitality towards church growth in particular, and societal growth in general. It attributes the fast spread of Christianity in Africa to the generosity that was displayed by Africans to the early European missionaries in the 19th and 20th centuries. That is, they offered land and other resources, even though their hospitality was at times, misused and/or abused. It also attributes the hopelessness in Africa, as evidenced by massive poverty, bad governance, starvation on a mass scale, for the failure to uphold hospitality strictly, as in line with the ideal African heritage and Biblical traditions on hospitality. It challenges the church to take a more active role in religio-social issues in order to help Africa to overcome her miseries. At the end of the book the author is deeply convinced that there is great hope for the African church and society in...

Cloud Computing is actually a very simple concept. The ability to deliver software applications and other services via the Internet.Cloud computing is the same stuff you do with your computer, such as office tasks or storing files, except done online. The term ‘cloud computing' comes from the visual image of a cloud of data that floats out on the Internet, and which can be accessed from anywhere there's an Internet connection, on any computing device. In this book describe the cloud model and comparison of conventional computing and cloud computing and describe the advantages of it.This book explain virtualization and cloud service and cost effect when we use cloud computing.
Satan wants your church to remain small. The fewer people you have in your congregation the more captives he has. The size of your church shows you to what extent you are depopulating Hell. When you have a mega church, it means that you are establishing more souls. It also means that more souls have escaped from the clutches of the devil. You must have a mega church because God’s will is that “His house may be filled”. Find out more in this "must have" for all pastors by Dag Heward-Mills.
During the latter part of the 20th Century the Charismatic Movement came to the fore in the Christian Church, especially in the western world. The Church of Ireland was not immune from this movement of the Holy Spirit. This book provides a theological and historical introduction to the Charismatic Movement in the Church of Ireland in the 20th Century. This introduction provides a valuable resource for those seeking to understand this movement in the Church of Ireland. The main leaders of the Charismatic Movement in the Church of Ireland were interviewed during the research for this study. Readers will find some surprises in these pages as to who was actually involved in the Charismatic Movement in the Church of Ireland. This is a history that the Church of Ireland needs to acknowledge, understand and embrace. Rev. Dr. Alan McCann was awarded a M.Phil. by Queen's University Belfast for this academic study.
